Music
Charles has played and taught Jazz, Pop, Rock, Prog, Funk, Hip Hop and traditional musics over the course of nearly 30 years behind the drums. This has been practised in band settings and numerous recordings through the years. Charles is currently recording drums and giving lessons at Loki Lydstudio in Bergen, offering opportunities for recording and play-along in a spacious and central location.
TEACHING
Charles’ teaching experience includes students from the ages of 8 to 60 years old, Bachelor students at Høyskolen in Volda and several cultural and private music schools in Norway. He uses the Drumsense teaching method.
Lessons are primarily 60 minutes long and focus on having fun with and being inspired by music. Charles meets the student at their level and is open to including any styles the student would like to dive into.
Lessons are given in Norwegian or English.
Drumsense
Drumsense is a complete method for learning the drums in a modern and motivating fashion. The fundamental concepts are that the student plays to music as much as possible while learning different styles, good technique and listening skills. In the beginning, the student will learn basic rock and pop beats, basic hand and feet techniques and a sense of the role of the drummer in a band setting.
The program includes Jazz, Latin and Swing music, rudiments and everything a student needs to become a proficient drummer.
STUDIO
Charles is also a Studio Assistant at Loki Lydstudio in Bergen. Loki Lydstudio is available for tracking, mixing, song writing and rental as a project studio.
